First Step Solutions for Homelessness

Homelessness is a growing problem and there are many reasons why people end up on the streets. 

While as a student at Oxford a homeless man would carry an old worn out Armchair onto Magdalene Bridge, across from the famous Magdalene College where C.S. Lewis once had serve as a Fellow. I ran into him several times and had some interactions with him, the odd couple of pound coins in my pocket and a returning thank you. As my time continued among those hallowed spires of the great university city, stories of this hopeless gentleman were shared; he had been a tutor at the university, he had taken to drink and as a result lost his job, his family and his home. He, along with hundreds of other homeless people, concentrated in Oxford due to the historical tradition of generosity of the affluent students. 

Many of the homeless I have worked with over the years fall into a vicious circle dealing with social services without the necessary identification. They are unable to secure their birth certificates without social security cards which means they cannot attain a simple government issued ID to be able to get a social security card. All which enables them to begin processing through the system. Many give up and get lost in the shuffle of life on the streets. I am thankful to work with a company that offers city and county municipalities and other government agencies as well charitable organizations solutions that can be utilized to help navigate homeless members of our communities toward a better future.
